Description:
Reptilipmorphic ceramic support likely depicting an American crocodile (Crocodylus acutus). The center of the support is hollow and has a ceramic sphere inside that creates a rattle effect. The exterior is decorated with two circular lateral orifices forming the “eyes” and two appliquéd small bumps (one above each orifice) forming the “eyebrows”. The opposite orifice is visible right through the hollow support. The tip of the support is slightly flattened and would have served as the zone of support for a tripodal vessel alongside two additional supports. The surface of the support is untreated and presents the natural orange-brown color of the clay baked in an oxidizing environment.
