Description:
A meticulously carved anthropomorphic figurine depicted in a seated position, with pronounced gluteal features and legs bent in a crouched stance. The arms are folded inward toward the upper chest, with the hands, distinguished by carved wrist lines, resting close but not overlapping each other. Above the broad, prominent shoulders rises a finely adorned head, showcasing distinct facial characteristics.
Vertical lines etched into the chin appear to represent the wrinkles of an elderly individual. The nose and closed lips are framed within a rhombus-shaped motif, while a nearly continuous triangular design connects the mouth and nose area to the forehead. The right eye is clearly defined, whereas the left eye remains more difficult to discern, possibly due to erosion or intentional asymmetry.
These facial carvings may symbolise the carvers’ self-perception or serve as a tribute to a respected elder or ancestor. The figurine likely held cultural significance, reflecting either identity or reverence within the community.
